Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara is a prominent Sikh militant and activist who has been involved in the Khalistan movement, which aims to create a separate state for Sikhs. He was born in 1974 in the village of Hawara in the state of Punjab, India.
Hawara became involved in Sikh activism in the early 1990s and joined the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), a militant group that has been responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in India. He rose through the ranks of the KLF and became its chief in 1995.
In 1995, Hawara was arrested for his involvement in the assassination of Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. He was convicted and sentenced to death, but his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 2014.
During his imprisonment, Hawara has continued to be active in the Sikh community and has called for the creation of Khalistan. He has also been involved in the protests against the controversial farm laws in India.
Hawara remains a controversial figure and is seen as a hero by some Sikh nationalists but a terrorist by the Indian government.
